Ben Looper Named Reinhardt University A DAY Chair for 2011-12 Campaign
Ben Looper is opening doors for Reinhardt students as chairman of the 2011-12 A DAY for Reinhardt campaign. As CEO and President of Southeast Restoration Group, Looper has been helping his community members put their lives back together after natural disasters, and now he extends that leadership to helping students improve their lives through earning a college education.
“I feel like this is an important opportunity to support our local students who are willing to attend our local university,” said Looper. “As the chairman of A DAY, I hope to exceed our annual goal of $100,000 in donations raised by the community, which will be matched by the University to help our local students.”
A DAY for Reinhardt
Created in 1988, the A DAY for Reinhardt campaign is an annual effort to provide support for Cherokee County students attending Reinhardt University. A DAY helps to fund the University’s Cherokee County Grant Program. This grant gives eligible students the opportunity to receive as much as $8,000 during their four years at the University. Since A DAY’s inception, more than $3 million in Cherokee County grants have been awarded to local deserving students.
Knowing the Value of Hometown Spirit
As a Cherokee County native himself, Looper knows the value of helping your hometown community. “The grant students receive from the A DAY campaign relieves some of the financial pressure(s) on the students and families of the local students,” Looper said. “In this economy, every dollar counts; by giving our students the resources to go to college locally, it gives them the opportunity to experience the university environment without the added cost of relocating out of town or out of state.”
Because of the success he has had in leading his company, Looper is excited about taking on the responsibility of leading the A DAY campaign. “I look forward to this campaign being one of the most successful ever, in spite of the tough economic times we are facing,” said Looper. “A DAY is more important now than ever to make sure we assist our local students.”
