Clarke Again Named AAC Defensive Player of Week for Women’s Soccer 

Kaleigh ClarkeReinhardt University women’s soccer player Kaleigh Clarke was named the Appalachian Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week for her play from Oct. 3-9. It marks the second straight week that Clarke has earned the weekly conference honor.

Clarke’s Stats

Clarke, a 5-foot-7 freshman goalkeeper from Woodstock, Ga., played all 180 minutes in goal for Reinhardt in its two games last week, making 12 saves and allowing just one goal (on a penalty kick). In the Lady Eagles’ 3-0 Appalachian Athletic Conference win at Tennessee Wesleyan College, she recorded her third shutout of the season with 11 saves.

On the season, Clarke has seen action in seven contests with five starts. Besides the three shutouts, she has combined on two others while putting together a goals-against average of .320. In 560 minutes, Clarke has collected 33 saves and allowed just two goals for a save percentage of .943.

Clarke leads the AAC in goals-against average. She also ranks seventh in saves per game (4.71) and ninth in total saves.

Team Stats

Reinhardt is 8-2-2 overall and in first place in the AAC at 4-0-0. The Lady Eagles are on the road for a conference match with Bryan College this Wednesday in Dayton, Tenn. The game is set for 5 p.m. with the Reinhardt-Bryan men’s contest following at 7 p.m.
