SIFE Members Invited to Attend Conference at Georgia Institute of Technology
originally published 10/19/11 – Six members of Reinhardt’s Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) organization were recently invited and attended a conference at the Georgia Institute of Technology for SIFE Training. An all-day event sponsored by Walgreens, universities from across the Southeast attended the training specifically geared for new members.
“A step above the rest.”
“This conference allowed our students to experience a large-scale professional business event first-hand,” said Tina Boosel, instructor of business and Reinhardt SIFE advisor. “Our new members were able to network and interact with recruiting representatives from hiring companies and attend seminars on leadership, motivation and team work by Dale Carnegie speakers. Students were taught how to use project management methodologies and tools for managing their SIFE projects.”
Students also learned resume writing and interviewing tips and how to use social media for a job search. “I attended a class that had recruiters from Walgreens, Clorox, Lowes, and Macy’s,” said Amanda Lam, a sophomore from Canton, Ga. “They had a question and answer session that was very helpful. They told us what they looked for on resumes and what to expect during an interview. I will definitely use their tips when I begin searching for a job or internship.
“We all walked away from the conference feeling like the SIFE organization prepares its students for success,” she continued. “We also learned more about the SIFE organization and how to lead/organize projects. SIFE empowers members to be a step above the rest!”

SIFE Description
SIFE is an international non-profit organization that works with leaders in business and higher education to mobilize university students to make a difference in their communities while developing the skills to become socially responsible business leaders. Participating students form teams on their university campuses and apply business concepts to develop outreach projects that improve the quality of life and standard of living for people in need. In addition to the community aspect of the program, SIFE’s leadership and career initiatives create meaningful opportunities for learning and exchange among the participants as well as the placement of students and alumni with companies in search of emerging talent.
“Excited to be involved.”
“I have Ms. Boosel to thank for getting me involved in SIFE,” said Amanda. “After she told me about some of the opportunities available to SIFE members, I looked at their website [www.sife.org] and was very impressed. The more I learn about SIFE, the more excited I am to be involved in such a great organization.”
