Reinhardt Softball Picked to Win Appalachian Athletic Conference
The Lady Eagles softball team has been picked to finish first and win the Appalachian Athletic Conference for a fourth consecutive year, according to a preseason poll of the AAC’s head coaches.
Setting a High Standard.
“We’re humbled to be picked to win the conference once again,” said RU head softball coach Glen Crawford. “We’ve been working hard to set a high standard with our program, and for us to have earned the respect of the rest of the coaches in our conference to be selected to win again really does mean a lot to us.”
Team Stats
The Lady Eagles return seven players from last season’s 36-12 squad that advanced to the NAIA National Tournament and lost a tiebreaker by one run for a berth into the Elite Eight. Headlining the list of returnees is senior pitcher Maddie Monroe, a National Fastpitch Coaches Association NAIA All-East First Team honoree in 2012. Also returning are senior infielders Brandie DeLay, Lindsey Booker, and Lauren Eide, junior infielder Callie Ann Poole, sophomore pitcher Haley Brannon, and sophomore outfielder utility player Kelci White.
Reaching for the Top!
“I really like the mix of experience and youth that we have on this team,” coach Crawford said. “Our upperclassmen have done a great job this fall of being leaders for our younger players. I’m really looking forward to getting our season started in February and seeing just how far this team can go this season.”
