Roddy, Monroe Named AAC Player of Week And Pitcher of Week, Respectively, for Softball

Maddie Monroe and Nikki Roddy earn AAC weekly honors.

Reinhardt University softball players Nikki Roddy and Maddie Monroe were named the Appalachian Athletic Conference Player of the Week and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, for their play from April 9-15. It marks the ninth time in her career that Monroe has earned the weekly conference honor, including four times this season. Roddy has received the award on four occasions, including three times last year.

Roddy Stats

Roddy, a 5-foot-5 senior utility player from Woodstock, Ga., batted .526 (10-for-19) with a home run, triple, six doubles, eight runs scored and five RBIs as Reinhardt went 5-1 last week, outscoring its opponents 45-12. She posted a 1.105 slugging percentage and a .609 on-base percentage.
On the season, Roddy has started all 39 games for the Lady Eagles and leads the team in batting average (.424), hits (50), doubles (18), total bases (76), slugging percentage (.644) and on-base percentage (.504). She has two home runs, a triple, 33 runs scored and 24 RBIs.
Within the AAC, Roddy ranks second in batting average, third in hits per game (1.28), third in doubles, third in doubles per game (0.46), third in slugging percentage, fourth in hits, fourth in runs per game (0.85), fourth in total bases per game (1.95), tied for fourth in runs and fifth in total bases. Nationally in the NAIA, she is tied for ninth in doubles and tied for 10th in doubles per game.

Monroe Stats

A 5-foot-8 junior pitcher out of Calhoun, Ga., Monroe made four appearances last week and went 3-1 with a 0.00 ERA. In her three starts, she pitched three complete-game shutouts, including a five-inning perfect game and seven-inning one-hitter. In 20 2/3 innings, Monroe struck out 27 and walked five as opponents batted just .092 (6-for-65) against her.
Monroe leads Reinhardt in almost every statistical pitching category, including appearances (23), innings pitched (140 2/3), starts (20), complete games (19), wins (16), shutouts (12), ERA (1.05), strikeouts (159) and opponents’ batting average (.179). She has a 16-6 record and has walked just 24.
Monroe tops the conference in ERA, opponents’ batting average and strikeouts per game (10.17). She ranks second in wins, second in strikeouts and fourth in innings pitched. On the national level, she is tied for 10th in ERA, 12th in strikeouts, tied for 16th in wins, tied for 23rd in opponents’ batting average, 26th in innings pitched and 33rd in strikeouts per game.

Team Standings

The Lady Eagles, who are ranked 22nd nationally in the NAIA, have a 30-9 overall record and are 14-2 in the AAC. Reinhardt is at Milligan College for an AAC doubleheader on Wednesday. The first contest is scheduled for 2 p.m. in Milligan College, Tenn.
