Three Student-Athletes Receive AAC Weekly Honors

Reinhardt softball players Andrea Thibaudeau and Maddie Monroe were named the Appalachian Athletic Conference Player of the Week and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, for their play from March 26-April 1. It marks the seventh time in her career that Monroe has earned the weekly conference, including twice this season. Thibaudeau has earned the Thibaudeauaward on two occasions, including once this year. Men’s tennis player Matt Porter was named the Appalachian Athletic Conference Player of the Week for his play from March 26-April 1. It marks the first time Porter has earned the weekly conference honor.

Thibaudeau’s Stats

Thibaudeau, a 5-foot-11 senior outfielder from Cartersville, Ga., batted .583 (7-for-12) with a triple, two doubles, six RBIs, two runs scored and four stolen bases as Reinhardt went 4-0 last week, outscoring its opponents 19-0. She posted a .917 slugging percentage and .583 on-base percentage.

On the season, Thibaudeau has started all 31 games for the Lady Eagles and leads the team in home runs (two), triples (four), RBIs (24), walks (11) and stolen bases (12). She is hitting .322 with five doubles and a .533 slugging percentage.

Thibaudeau tops the AAC in triples and is tied for third in RBIs and fourth in stolen bases. Nationally in the NAIA, she is tied for 12th in triples.

MonroeMonroe’s Stats           

A 5-foot-8 junior pitcher out of Calhoun, Ga., Monroe made two appearances last week, pitching a pair of complete-game shutouts, including a no-hitter with 15 strikeouts in Reinhardt’s 2-0 AAC win over Columbia (S.C.) College. In 14 innings of work, she allowed just three singles and no runs while striking out 28 and walking two. Opponents batted only .068 (3-for-44) against her.

Monroe paces the squad in almost every statistical pitching category, including appearances (18), innings pitched (113), starts (16), complete games (15), wins (12), shutouts (eight), ERA (1.30), strikeouts (122) and opponents’ batting average (.200). She has a 12-5 record and has walked just 18.

Within the conference, Monroe ranks first in strikeouts per game (9.72), second in strikeouts, second in opponents’ batting average, third in wins, third in ERA and fourth in innings pitched. On the national level, she is 12th in strikeouts, 20th in innings pitched and tied for 23rd in wins.

Lady Eagles’ Standings      

The Lady Eagles have a 23-8 overall record and are 7-1 in the AAC. Reinhardt is at Montreat College for an AAC doubleheader on Thursday (4/5). The first contest is scheduled for 2 p.m. in Montreat, N.C.

PorterPorter’s Stats          

In Reinhardt’s only match last week, Porter was the lone winner for the Eagles when they lost at NCAA Division II Young Harris College. Porter, a 6-foot-7, 190-pound freshman from Marietta, Ga., picked up a 6-2, 6-2 victory at No. 5 singles.

A late addition to the Reinhardt men’s tennis roster after garnering a spot on the AAC All-Freshman Team in men’s basketball, Porter is undefeated in four singles matches this year.

The Eagles are 2-5 overall and 1-0 in the conference. Reinhardt plays a non-conference match at Emmanuel College in Franklin Springs, Ga., on Monday (4/9) at 3 p.m.
