Tis’ the Season!

Reinhardt students, faculty and staff have already begun celebrating the holiday season! Check out just a few of the efforts and events that members of the University community have organized and participated in this year.

Give to those in need.

The Giving Tree

Again this year, Reinhardt is working with R.M. Moore Elementary School, our partner in education, to help those children in our community who are in need this holiday season through a program called “The Giving Tree.”

A small tree was placed in the President’s Lobby with 72 angel-shaped tags. A total of 6 families, with a combined 18 children, ages ranging from 2 months to 11 years, will be helped this year.

Because of an overwhelming response, all of the tag have already been taken, and gifts have been pouring in!

Toys for Tots

Alpha Kappa Delta, a sociology college honor society, hosted its new member induction in late-November in conjunction with a Toys for Tots holiday donation drive. The drive was very successful with more than 25 toys donated by those in attendance.

Focus on helping others.

On November 6, 2011, several Reinhardt University students and faculty members participated in FOCUS on Fashion at Oglethorpe University, starring FOCUS children and the professional team who care for them.

FOCUS understands and supports the unique needs of families with children who are medically fragile or have significant developmental or physical disabilities. FOCUS offers comfort, hope and information to parents; accessible recreational and social programs for children and teens; and fun, inclusive activities for the entire family. A non-profit founded by parents in 1983, FOCUS continues to embrace and strengthen metro Atlanta families.

SPREAD Christmas cheer.

Student Holiday Dinner and Dessert

Students enjoyed a night of holiday cheer as they welcomed the holiday season on campus during the Annual Student Holiday Dinner and Desserts on Nov. 29. This event is one of the University’s most cherished traditions.

Festival of Trees

Reinhardt’s Christmas tree in the R.T. Jones Memorial Library Festival of Trees fits us all to a “T.” Visit during regular library hours to see this special tree!

We hope you have a blessed holiday season and a very Merry CHRISTmas!
