WALESKA, Ga. – On Saturday, Sept. 15th, our Reinhardt Eagles and others in the community came together to support Cherokee County students who are attending Reinhardt University by participating in the 4th annual Born to Run 5K. The money raised went to Cherokee Scholars for Reinhardt. Plenty of Reinhardt students joined this event, including the Baseball, Basketball and Wrestling teams.

Cherokee Scholars for Reinhardt is an annual run to benefit Cherokee County students attending Reinhardt University. The programs gives students up to $8,000 over their entire collegiate career. The group has raised over $4.8 million to help Cherokee County students afford college.

Founded in 1988, the race went through Cannon park and through neighborhoods. The community came out in full support, with some volunteers offering refreshments of granola and water, and some community members coming out to support as cheerleaders.

Some gracious organizations that sponsored the event were Northside Hospital Cherokee, Synovus, Nationwide, ALFA, as well as many other generous organizations. Interested in sponsoring the event, or even just participating? You can contact Cherokee Scholars for Reinhardt here.
