Homecoming has been moved to Nov. 16.

Waleska, Ga — The month of November is here, and I thought that this would be an excellent time to give everyone an idea of what events are going to be hosted this month. Before I begin, I should let everyone know that the Homecoming festivities which were scheduled for Nov. 2 and 3 have now been moved to Nov. 16. On Friday, Nov. 1, there will be a Blue Out game from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m., Penny Wars from 8:00 to 11:30 p.m., and a Middle School Band Clinic. On Saturday, there will be the continuation of the Middle School Band Clinic as well as a 5k for Reinhardt Cherokee Scholars from 8:00 to 11:00 a.m.

Veteran’s Day is on Nov. 11.

On Nov. 5, there will be a Common Ground event from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. as well as The University Jazz Ensemble starting at 7:30 p.m. The following day there will be a Percussion Ensemble Concert also starting at 7:30 p.m., and on Thursday a Dodgeball Tournament will be held from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and the Vienna Boys Choir starting at 7:30 p.m. Friday the 8th and Saturday the 9th will be the senior recitals of Nikki Johnson, Kayla Thomas and Peggy Curtis with each starting at 7:30 p.m. To end the weekend, a presentation of The University Choirs will be held at 3:00 p.m.

The week of Nov. 11 begins with Veterans Day on Monday and with another Common Ground at the same time on Tuesday. Wednesday will host a Billiards Tournament from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. while Thursday will host a Coffee House Event at the same time and a High School Honor Winds Clinic. Friday and Saturday will be the continuation of the High School Honor Winds Clinic, the opening of the theatre production She Loves Me at 7:30 p.m. and a Tailgate event from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Sunday will be the continuation of She Loves Me. It will also host a Disc Golf Tournament that afternoon from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.

She Loves Me will be performed in the Falany Performing Arts Center.

The week of Nov. 18 is the last full week for students before they go on Thanksgiving Break. On Monday there will be a RU Leads: Thanking event from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. For first-year students, it’s a great way to get credit for their class and to learn something while they do it. Yet again another Common Ground will be held on Tuesday at the same time of 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Wednesday will host a Holiday Dinner and Desserts event from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. while Thursday will host a Solo/Ensemble Hour starting at 3:30 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday will all host productions of She Loves Me and Monday, Nov. 26 is the last day of classes for students.

Enjoy your Thanksgiving break!

November looks like it’s going to be an exciting month and one that we can all enjoy. Keep in mind that once we return from Thanksgiving Break, final exams will start, so it’s a good idea to study during the break and to return prepared. I hope everyone has a good break, and I wish everyone the best of luck with final exams.
