The highly enjoyable 2014 biopic film “Selma” does more than simply retell the story of the violent three-month period in 1965 when Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. led dangerous protest marches from Selma-to-Montgomery to secure equal voting rights for Black people. The film explores some intelligent and thoughtful themes in a well-crafted historical context.

Award-winning film director Ava DuVernay and producer Nik Bower give audiences a fresh sense of style in every scene and immerse them with a brilliant blend of masterful cinematography, dynamic visuals, and impeccable acting, especially from David Oyelowo as Dr. King.
