The sesquicentennial of the Civil War continues. Dr. Wheeler writes:
Don’t miss it!
The Hill Freeman Library has a new exhibit (near the reference desk) of images from the 1864 Atlanta campaign during the Civil War.
These images, many of them rare, come largely from sketch artists who traveled with the Union Army, and they depict camp life and battle scenes from Chattanooga to Atlanta, including Allatoona Pass and Kennesaw Mountain.
Take a few minutes at your leisure to see the exhibit. Joel Langford has put together a brief handout that orients the viewer, and we are grateful to Dr. Gordon Richard Elwell for the use of his collection.
